As I always say: “It’s the first time you don’t want to experience when it comes to something bad happening
to you in your life.” This is true. Think of a housefire, It’s the first one you don’t want to experience. An earthquake, a hurricane etc etc.
It is the first time you don’t want to experience. Now it’s not the actual; disaster itself you should be thinking about because that you can’t help, if it’s a natural disaster that is. So it’s not the disaster it’s the part of NOT being prepared that you don’t want to experience. Imagine for a moment your town or region of the country, get’s hit with a Blizzard, and you experience a power outage but yet you don’t have any batteries for your flashlight, or a generator that can run a small heater and light and tv. Or perhaps you take a road trip but yet you don’t have a spare or a jack or flares or a blanket etc.
Being Disaster Prepared means to be Prepared for anything. As the American Red Cross Says; Be Red Cross Ready.

Post-Katrina Storm Disorder and Recovery in South Mississippi Over Two Years Later
Abstract:
This (embeded) commentary describes a Katrina survivor and provider’s dual perspective two years post-Hurricane-Katrina. Highlights of the impact on individual, family, community and regional levels, and on social, economic and mental health levels are identified. This includes discussion of “Post-Katrina Storm Disorder,” the plight of the poor and near-poor and of the immigrants, a cognative reframing intervention for disaster relief agency workers, as well as helpful clinical strategies, impact on religious and spiritual beliefs and a modified “six stages of disaster recovery.” Finally, positive developments are elaborated concerning changes in personal priorities, life in a FEMA trailer, metamorphosis of the University of Southern Mississippi Gulf Coast Campus, the role of volunteers and resident self-help and personal life commitments.

American Red Cross Disaster Action Team

If you are like me, I always have an interest in the post-disaster affects on a community. I myself have been involved in helping victims of disasters numerous times. I was a volunteer for my local American Red Cross Disaster Action Team. I have helped victims of mostly housefires in the local area. Our team would actually be dispatched to the scene by request of the fire chief. We were with the victims as the disaster occured and we would simply help them to secure shelter, food, and clothing immediately. We would then meet up with them the next day if our services were needed further, or perhaps refer them to the local chapter.
There was a time whereas I had the opportunity to work on what is called a National Disaster. This is a disaster of such magnitude that a State-of-Emergency had been called by the Governor or the president. When working on a National Disaster, you live on scene for a minimum of two weeks. It is this type of volunteer work that you get fully immersed in the disaster and it’s affect on the community. This type of volunteer work is the hardest to be a part of and to be able to work the long 16 hour days. The one National Disaster that I was involved in, my chairman and I was first on the scene. It was in New Jersey and many towns had been flooded by the Atlantic Ocean and some surrounding bays. We had our work cut out for us, much of the scene was still under five foot of water.

The Homeless Herald is a site dedicated to the Homeless, the Addicted, the Abused, and America’s Disasters. This site is has been created by Reverend Robert for the Reverend Robert Ministries on behalf of the Homeless. The site is an informational resource site to locate county, state, and federal departments that nay be of help in obtaining housing, food and medicare care as well as vocational training. This is to help get those that have been affected by a disaster to get back into the workforce as quickly as possible.
This site came about because Reverend Robert found that there are people out there that have been involved in some type of disaster, whether it be man-made or natural, and perhaps didn’t have the available funds or insurance to obtain housing, clothing or food and the county social service offices sometimes deny these qualified people for benefits. Sounds like a nightmare doesn’t it. Think about it for a moment. Middle of the night your house catches fire. At present most of your money has been going to pay back bills so therefore you have no funds saved and insurance was something money could be spent on at that time. You end up in the hospital for say eight months come out and have nothing. What does that person do? Turn to the county services and they deny you. Sounds like a horror story doesn’t it? Click here to read one person’s experience like this
The Homeless Herald has about eight categories of information. The site is looking for writer’s to place their article’s. Also the site is asking anyoneif they have something they want to write about and do some research on, The Homeless Herald will look at it and perhaps publish your article. In addition the site is in need of people’s horror stories. So if you like contact the site: Click Here for The Homeless Herald
You will find that The Homeless Herald is a new site that is still under construction but anyone can get on the site, subscribe to the site and read the articles and content. Advertising on the site is very limited so therefore you will see a Donate Box which will help the site to expand and help more of those in their time of need.
Reverend Robert coordinates food deliveries to soup kitchens from restaurants, so therefore if you are a restaurant that would like to participate in ythis iniative please contact the Reverend. Click here for the Reverend
Please pass this info on and share.

Reverend Robert
Did you know that at any given time that 3 to 4 million adults and children are homeless in America. That’s just about one percent of the population of the land of the free. The population of the United States of America is just over 308 million. 10% of the poor are homeless.
Did you know that one in 50 children in the U.S. are homeless, and with more foreclosures and job losses expected this year, the numbers are likely to get worse.
