Pat Robertson Admonishes Haiti
“They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we’ll serve you if you’ll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it’s a deal.”
The Reverend Pat Robertson speaks his mind on the television show; “700 Club.” Many take offense to his comments. Are his comments out of character? Apparently not for him. He doesn’t hold back in his beliefs which ARE scripturally sound. The bible does state: “ Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.” Mark 9:50(KJV) However, Paul in a letter to the Thessalonians expressed this statement: “And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.” 1 Thess 5:14(ASV)
How far should we go in “seasoning with salt?” So many times people are too worried about hurting someone’s feelings that the person goes without the warning that perhaps is needed. “Admonish the disorderly” says Paul. If we are Brother’s and Sister’s in Christ, then we should bring out these points and teach others and use any real situations as a demonstration. Since so many keep quiet and do not admonish (warn) and teaching others, because it is not politically correct, that is the very reason how the devil was so successful at making the world the way it is right now.
- This is a sign of the times that the end is coming. ”But understand this, that in the last days there will come times of difficulty. 2 For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, 4 treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, 5 having the appearance of godliness, but denying its power. Avoid such people. 6 For among them are those who creep into households and capture weak women, burdened with sins and led astray by various passions, 7 always learning and never able to arrive at a knowledge of the truth. 8 Just as Jannes and Jambres opposed Moses, so these men also oppose the truth, men corrupted in mind and disqualified regarding the faith. 9 But they will not get very far, for their folly will be plain to all, as was that of those two men.” 2 Tim 3:1-9 (ESV)
- Then Jesus said to them, "Nation will rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom. There will be great earthquakes, and in various places famines and pestilences. And there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. Luke 21:10-11 (ESV)
If we do not admonish one another, the result for the one not being warned, is eternel destruction. Please if I am doing something wrong that will keep me from receiving God’s gift of eternal life, point it out to me. Be sure to use scriptural reference’s though. For those that are upset by this display of warning, be thankful, because he apparently was the one that God selected to let you and the whole world know of this situation and what to do about it. I bet the one’s complaining are the first one’s to be in line when he gives out his ministries money. For those that do not understand who the devil is that Pat was talking about, apparently, Robertson was referring to a voodoo ceremony in 1791 that some historians believe was a spark for the revolution. The call to revolt was issued by Dutty Boukman, a voodoo priest and leader of the Maroon slaves. The resulting uprising, which ultimately led to Haiti’s independence, claimed the lives of thousands of colonialists and slaves.
- “The ear that listens to life-giving reproof will dwell among the wise. 32 Whoever ignores instruction despises himself, but he who listens to reproof gains intelligence. 33 The fear of the Lord is instruction in wisdom, and humility comes before honor.” Prov 15:31-33 (ESV)
While Kathleen Parker of The Washington Post talks of “Robertson’s superstition and fear” If she were familiar with the Bible she would know that Robertson does not believe in superstition and the Bible teaches to be in “Fear of the Lord,” Which simply means to be afraid of disappointing Him and follow his commands or else we will be subject to the devil’s devices. In addition Parker speaks of “The real world of Science and Knowledge.” What does this mean? The real world is God’s creation and because of God’s creations we have science. Knowledge is given to us by God. Long before science found out that the world was round and not flat, the Bible told of this. “It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in…” Isaiah 40:22(ESV)
You know it is the hardest thing to do; Warning someone of the impeding fate to which they are headed if they do not seek God’s guidance. It is one of those things that make a believer look bad but God directs us to do it anyway.
- Every Scripture passage is inspired by God. All of them are useful for teaching, pointing out errors, correcting people, and training them for a life that has God’s approval. 17 They equip God’s servants so that they are completely prepared to do good things. 2 Tim 3:16-17 (GW)
Here is the only thing that God commisions us to do;
- “I solemnly call on you in the presence of God and Christ Jesus, who is going to judge those who are living and those who are dead. I do this because Christ Jesus will come to rule {the world}. Be ready to spread the word whether or not the time is right. Point out errors, warn people, and encourage them. Be very patient when you teach. A time will come when people will not listen to accurate teachings. Instead, they will follow their own desires and surround themselves with teachers who tell them what they want to hear. People will refuse to listen to the truth and turn to myths.” 2 Tim 4:1-4 (GW)
When it comes down to it between what is politically correct or God’s word, God’s word or will must always prevail.
- “…so shall my word be that goeth forth out of my mouth: it shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please, and it shall prosper in the thing whereto I sent it.” Isaiah 55:11(ASV)
May God Bless You
