Blizzard pummels Northeast United States AGAIN. Local business owners are being left out in the cold this past week as we get hit with back to back snow storms as this Nor’easter Blizzard continues it’s cycle of intense rage.
As the amount of snow dropped on this region increased, New Jersey officials had to take action by closing already known dangerous roads and highways.
New Jersey Transit suspended bus service at 7pm until further notice. Click here for up to the minute news on NJ Transit re-opening. Click Here to sign up for NJ Transit Travel Alerts via email or text. Any major important changes they will email or text message you to notify of the ever increasing changes of travel during these winter storms.
That’s right, you are reading that title correct. A little bit of snow and the whole state shuts down. All the stores, malls and transportation brought to a SSCCCRRREEEAAAMMMMIIINNNGGG HALT!!
I couldn’t understand, I was out in that wonderful, fresh, crisp, clean air all day. I didn’t want to have to come back into the house. I was out in the neighborhoods visiting local business and neighbors and waiting for a bus to take me to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. When I woke in the morning and saw all that snow that was on the groung as well as what was still falling from heaven, my mind went into overdrive. All I could think bout was all the poor homeless people that were probably stuck in the freezing cold. Shelters can only house so many and there are only so many shelters. With a shelter it is first come, first served. They are just like any other business , they have an Occupancy Rating from the Fire Department. They cannot go over that limit.

Are you prepared for winter storms. While it may be late in our season, we still must be, RED CROSS, ready for any storms that may come up. We must be prepared for large drops in temperature, freezing rain, icing, high winds, and heavy snowfalls. It ios still too early to let down our guard, we must be prepared for the worst case scenario. Of course in the northern states and even in the southern states we must be stocked with food and supplies in case of a snow-in or icing.
It is important not to procrastinate in being prepared. You may think that the weather channel will give you ample warning, but, what if they only give a days notice? Will you be ready? Perhaps you are “under the weather” and unable to secure your home and property and get supplies in time before being shut in. There are many things to get prepared in and around your home.
The American Red Cross publishes warnings to be; “Emergency Prepared,” for every season and for all our nation. In addition they publish a checklist for all of us that we can download and printout. I have made it available for you on this site.
You will need Adobe Reader to open the checklist and it is available for you for free. Most computers have this installed already. Also you can get McAfee Security Scan for Free at the same time if you like. It will scan your PC and check for security threats and fix them.
Saving money is not as hard as it seems. Here are ten practical tips that you can do to begin saving money, without changing your lifestyle.
1. Replace incandescent bulbs with compact fluorescent (CFL) bulbs. CFL bulbs consume 80% less energy than incandescent bulbs, but give the same illumination. Make sure to buy only lamps and bulbs that have the Energy Star rating to ensure quality compliance.
In this world today, prices seem to go higher every year. Saving money can sometimes be a hard job for many people. To help you save money, here are some pointers for you:
1. Determine the things that are important to you. Identify the items that you need and the items that you want to have. Always remember that you should only buy things that are important and needed in your lifestyle.
There are six things that the Lord hates, seven that are an abomination to him:
haughty eyes, a lying tongue,
and hands that shed innocent blood, a heart that devises wicked plans,
feet that make haste to run to evil,
a false witness who breathes out lies,
and one who a sows discord among brothers. - Proverbs 6:16-19 ESV
