Wisdom, aside from worshipping God, is one the most important elements our lives. “…whatever you get, get insight.” King
Solomon gives us an honest encouragement to the study of true religion and Godliness. Throughout the Book of Proverbs and especially in the preceding chapters we see that wisdom is what makes us who we are and how we act, whether or not we act in a manner that projects and beautifies our Godly devotion. He instructs his children just as his father instructed him. He says that he will give them good doctrine. This is important because not all doctrine is good doctrine. (See 2Tim 4:3,4) This is why we must get wisdom and with all we get, get understanding. With wisdom and understanding we can gain knowledge of our true, living God.
The Power of Wisdom (listen)
“They were under the heel of the French. You know, Napoleon III, or whatever. And they got together and swore a pact to the devil. They said, we’ll serve you if you’ll get us free from the French. True story. And so, the devil said, okay it’s a deal.”
The Reverend Pat Robertson speaks his mind on the television show; “700 Club.” Many take offense to his comments. Are his comments out of character? Apparently not for him. He doesn’t hold back in his beliefs which ARE scripturally sound. The bible does state: “ Salt is good: but if the salt have lost his saltness, wherewith will ye season it? Have salt in yourselves, and have peace one with another.” Mark 9:50(KJV) However, Paul in a letter to the Thessalonians expressed this statement: “And we exhort you, brethren, admonish the disorderly, encourage the fainthearted, support the weak, be longsuffering toward all.” 1 Thess 5:14(ASV)
How far should we go in “seasoning with salt?” So many times people are too worried about hurting someone’s feelings that the person goes without the warning that perhaps is needed. “Admonish the disorderly” says Paul. If we are Brother’s and Sister’s in Christ, then we should bring out these points and teach others and use any real situations as a demonstration. Since so many keep quiet and do not admonish (warn) and teaching others, because it is not politically correct, that is the very reason how the devil was so successful at making the world the way it is right now.
Through Bible Study we can learn how our ancestor’s worshipped God and prayed for His blessings, help and guidance. While Jesus provided us with our model prayer (Matthew 6:9), we can also learn from the beginning of time how they prayed as well but we must keep in mind what Jesus taught us.
